It often happens that there are only a few bread slices left in your kitchen and you have no clue how to use them. Throwing away does not seem a good idea and makes you fill with guilt. Sweet baked bread slices
It’s a popular dessert that’s prepared on special occasion and festivals. To prepare it put a kadhai or deep-bottomed pan over medium flame and heat oil/ghee in it. When it’s hot enough take 8 pieces of bread slices and halve them. Half fry them and place on a kitchen towel to soak the extra ghee or oil. After this boil 1 ½ litre of milk in a large pan and add 2 pinches saffron after a boil. Let the milk simmer till its half and then add 1 ½ tsp rose water in it. Turn off the flame and transfer the rabdi in a bowl. Let it chill in the refrigerator. While milk is cooking pre-heat the oven at 120 degrees C. Now take a baking tray and place the half-fried bread slices with one by one. Now spread ¼ cup sugar syrup 1 cup condensed milk, 2 tsp saffron milk all over them and bake for around 5-7 minutes. Once baked take out the baking tray carefully and the baked bread slices in a plate. Your Double Ka Meetha is ready, garnish with dry fruits
Chocolate Bread Pudiding
Take 8 bread slices and them in small pieces and keep aside. Next take 6 eggs and beat them well using an electric beater. Mix 1 tsp vanilla essence to the eggs and beat well. Now put a large pan over medium flame and boil 500 ml milk in it. After a boil add 500 grams fresh cream, 4 tbsp cocoa powder, and ½ cup sugar in it. Stir well and cook for a minute or two. Then, add the beaten eggs along with cutting bread pieces. Now take a pudding mould and grease with 1 tsp butter. Finally pour the mixture in this mould and spread evenly. Cover with a foil or cling sheet. Place this mould in a preheated pressure cooker over medium flame. Let it cook for about 10-15 minutes. Make sure not to let the steam out. Once cooked allow the pudding to settle. When the mould is settled, take it out of the cooker and let it cool at room temperature. Now freeze the pudding for about 30 minutes and then enjoy chilled!
This is one of the easiest recipes that you can make with leftover bread. To make it you would need a large packet of bread which has about 15-18 slices. The sides of each bread slice and keep aside for making croutons later. Then heat 1 cup vegetable oil. Before frying crumble the bread slices and deep fry them until golden in color. Keep aside until required. In another pan heat 2 tbsp of ghee over medium flame and fry ½ cup cashews and 2 tbsp of raisins. In another pan boil 1 ½ liter of full cream milk over a high flame. After a boil, add ½ tsp cardamom powder, 2 pinches of saffron, and ½ to 1 cup of sugar. Mix well and let the milk simmer. After 2-3 minutes of cooking milk, add deep-fried bread and stir to mix well. Let it cook for 5-10 minutes, which will thicken the mixture. Make sure that the milk has been soaked by bread. On thickening, turn off the flame and let it cool at room temperature.
